Jaat Trailer launch: Sunny Deol Opens Up About Deol Family’s Return to Bollywood Spotlight

Bollywood superstar Sunny Deol recently reflected on the resurgence of the Deol family in the industry, particularly the recent success of his brother Bobby Deol with hits like Animal and Aashram. Sunny said that it was “high time” they received the opportunities they truly deserved in Bollywood.
No Pressure, Just Hard Work – Sunny Deol on New Opportunities
At the trailer launch of his upcoming film Jaat on Monday, Sunny discussed how his entire family, including his father Dharmendra, is entering a new phase in their careers. When asked if this new chapter brings any pressure, Sunny shared that he had been “waiting” for such moments of success. He confidently added, “I don’t think there’s any pressure. It’s high time we got this kind of work. We’ve been waiting for it. That’s how our family has been. We believe in working hard and never giving up. You never know when your time will come, so keep fighting and moving forward.”
Sunny Deol Talks About His Upcoming Projects
When speaking about his future in the industry, Sunny revealed, “Right now, I can only talk about Jaat. I’ve been waiting for these projects to take shape, and I’m fortunate that they are happening. Gadar 2 marked the beginning of this new phase for me, and now I’m working on Jaat. I’ll share more about other projects when the time is right. They’re all exciting subjects.”
Jaat – A High-Octane Action Drama
Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni, is Sunny Deol’s upcoming action-packed film, set to release on April 10, 2025. The film also stars Randeep Hooda as the antagonist. The trailer, released on Monday, shows Sunny’s character threatening to bring down Randeep’s ‘lanka’ while saving the day. Apart from Sunny and Randeep, the film features a strong ensemble cast, including Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Viineet Kumar Singh, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Ramya Krishnan, and Swarupa Ghosh in key roles.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, Jaat will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, and promises to offer high-energy action sequences that fans are eagerly awaiting.
The South vs. Bollywood Debate – Sunny’s Honest Take
During the Jaat trailer launch, Sunny Deol praised the producers of the film and shared his thoughts on the difference between Bollywood and South Indian cinema. He said, “The producers here (in the South) know how to make cinema with love. I think Bollywood producers should learn from them. They focus on the story, trust the director’s vision, and give their best to make it work. In Bollywood, sometimes we forget our roots and try to copy Western styles, but South cinema remains true to its roots, which is why it connects with audiences across India.” (also read: Kesari Chapter 2 Teaser: Akshay Kumar’s Powerful Stand Against the British Empire)
Sunny believes Hindi cinema should return to its roots and create films that audiences can relate to, just like his own films Ghatak, Damini, and Arjun.
The Changing Landscape of Hindi Cinema
When asked where Hindi cinema is lagging, Sunny reflected, “Earlier, producers would commit to a good story when they heard it. But with corporates entering, filmmaking became more about commercial success. The real passion for filmmaking got lost, and filmmakers with true hunger for cinema were sidelined.” He also mentioned how, in contrast to Bollywood, the producers of Jaat allowed the director complete freedom, demonstrating great patience and trust in the process to ensure the film was made to its fullest potential.
Sunny Deol Open to Playing New Roles
When asked if he would consider playing negative roles like his younger brother Bobby, who has taken on complex characters in Animal, Sunny said, “I wouldn’t call it negative, I would just call it a character. If I get a role like that, I’d definitely love to play it. But it’s up to the director and producers to cast me in such a role. When I joined the industry, I had limited choices, but now I’m open to exploring different roles.”
Sunny added that people’s expectations, based on his image, sometimes affect how his work is received. “People might appreciate the work but still not enjoy it because of their expectations,” he explained.
A Deol Family Reunion on Screen?
Sunny also revealed that he, Bobby, and their father Dharmendra would love to work together in another film. He said, “The story has to be good for us to come together.” The Deol family previously teamed up for Apne and the Yamla Pagla Deewana series, and fans are excited about the possibility of another reunion.
