Be Happy is a sports drama starring Abhishek along with Saiyami Kher, Shabana Azmi, Angad Bedi, and others. Directed by R. Balki, the film had its world premiere at the 12th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in 2023, gaining recognition. The movie was released on March 14 and is now available exclusively on Prime Video. It also features Nora Fatehi, Inayat Verma, Nassar, Johny Lever, and Harleen Sethi in key roles.
Produced by Lizelle D’Souza under Remo D’Souza Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., Be Happy tells the story of a father, Shiv, and his daughter, Dhara. The film portrays their journey to overcome challenges as Dhara dreams of participating in a big dance reality show. The movie explores themes of family, resilience, and rediscovering happiness.
Be Happy Reviews:
Udita Jhunjhunwala from Livemint said, “The script captures the father-daughter bond well but doesn’t delve into the depth of single parenting, grief, and trauma. The director’s focus on drama takes away from his strength—dance.”
Rishabh Suri from Hindustan Times mentioned, “Releasing directly on OTT was a smart decision, allowing viewers to watch it at their own pace. Despite its flaws, Be Happy still leaves you with a smile.”
Trisha Gaur from Koimoi wrote, “Abhishek Bachchan shines as the struggling single father, but even his sincere performance can’t save the film as it begins to lose momentum in the second half.”
Shubhra Gupta from Indian Express commented, “Inayat Verma steals the show, lighting up the screen. While Abhishek gives a solid performance as a father, it feels more subdued here.”
