Vikrant Massey, renowned for his smooth transition from television to Bollywood, recently opened up about the hurdles he faced in establishing himself in the film industry. Speaking at IEC 2024, the actor reflected on how TV actors are often looked down upon in Bollywood, sharing how he was initially dismissed and stereotyped when he first ventured into films.

Massey recalled, “It doesn’t matter where you come from, how much money you have, or if you can speak English. The only thing that truly matters is doing the job you’re hired for, and doing it well. I am a living example of that.” He continued, “When I started in television, many people told me, ‘TV actors don’t have a future here. You’ll always be the hero’s friend.’ That really hurt me. But now, those same people are the ones calling me for work.”

Vikrant Massey began his career in 2007 with a role in Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, followed by notable parts in Dharam Veer and Balika Vadhu, where he gained popularity for his role as Shyam Singh. His first lead role came in Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo, where he portrayed Murli Laal. Massey continued to make his mark on television with roles in Qubool Hai and as a host for shows like V The Serial and Yeh Hai Aashiqui. After his final appearance in Ajab Gajab Ghar Jamai in 2014, he made a full transition to films, where his career has since flourished.
