Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh’s Heartfelt Song “Sapphire” Wins Indian Hearts

British singer Ed Sheeran and Indian music star Arijit Singh have recently come together for a beautiful new song called Sapphire. The song has quickly become popular among Indian fans.Ed shared that he first heard Arijit Singh’s voice in the Bollywood film Aashiqui 2, while watching the emotional song Tum Hi Ho. He said, “I saw Aashiqui 2 and heard Tum Hi Ho. I was spellbound by Arijit’s voice, the song, and the scene. Then I looked him up and messaged him saying I’d love to sing together someday.” He wrote this along with a video clip of Sapphire on Instagram.
However, some people online were not convinced that Ed had really watched a Bollywood movie. One person commented, “Bro, in no world did you watch Aashiqui 2.” But Ed quickly replied, saying, “Why not? I watch many Bollywood and Tollywood films. No one makes movies like that—I really love them.”
Ed met Arijit Singh for the first time at Arijit’s concert in London. During that meeting, Ed showed him an early version of Sapphire, which he had first worked on in 2019. Arijit immediately got interested and gave some ideas for the music and vocals. Also read: Pushpa 2 Becomes Highest Grossing Hindi Film.

One special thing about Sapphire is that Ed sings some lines in Punjabi, which his Indian fans really appreciated. The song is a beautiful mix of Indian and Western styles, with both singers adding their unique touch.
There was also a surprise for Bollywood fans—superstar Shah Rukh Khan appeared briefly in the music video. In one short scene, he was seen lip-syncing along with Ed Sheeran, which added extra excitement to the video.
