Geeta Kapoor Opens Up About Leaving Bollywood and Why She Is Not Returning

Geeta Kapoor Says Goodbye to Bollywood

Geeta Kapoor, fondly known as “Geeta Maa” by her fans, has announced that she is saying goodbye to Bollywood. In a recent interview, she shared the reasons behind her decision and discussed her journey in the film industry.

Geeta’s Start in Bollywood

Geeta Kapoor began her career in Bollywood as an assistant choreographer. She played a key role in popular films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Dil To Pagal Hai, where she assisted Farah Khan with choreography. Over the years, Geeta became a well-known face in the industry and even appeared as a judge on various dance reality TV shows.

No Plans for a Comeback

When asked about making a comeback to Bollywood, Geeta responded, “No, I believe everyone should take a step back and give new talent the chance to rise.” She emphasized that it was time for others to move forward and carve their own place in the industry. Geeta said, “Whatever this industry gave me—work, money, and fame—I am grateful for it. But if the time comes when I have an intense desire and don’t want to let go of the opportunity, then maybe I will consider returning.” You May Like It: Deepika Padukone Is Not the First Actress to Demand 8 Hour Shifts Says Siddharth P Malhotra.

Lack of Work in the Industry

Geeta Kapoor shared her thoughts on the current state of the industry, stating, “Right now, there is a shortage of work, and in such circumstances, others should be given the opportunity.” She explained how films today are not made the way they used to be. “In our time, films used to have 8-10 songs, big music numbers, and dance performances. Now, with so little work available, it’s not fair to grab everything for yourself and not allow others the chance.”

Geeta’s Creative Freedom

Geeta also stressed her desire to work on creative projects rather than doing repetitive or “copy-paste” work. She said, “I don’t want to work under any restrictions. I want to do something that is truly creative and fresh.”

A Strong Bond with Farah Khan

Geeta started her career at the age of 17 and later joined Farah Khan’s group. Over the years, Geeta assisted Farah on several major projects such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein, Kal Ho Na Ho, Main Hoon Na, and Om Shanti Om. Geeta refers to Farah Khan as a mother figure and her guru in the industry.
