Rajpal Yadav recently spoke about the issue of nepotism in Bollywood, a topic that has been discussed a lot over the years. He said that while it is true that someone might get their first opportunity in Bollywood because of family connections, true success is determined by one’s talent and how the audience responds.
He explained that if nepotism existed, then how would stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Johny Lever, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, and Dharmendra be able to succeed? He emphasized that it is all about an actor’s talent, not connections.
Rajpal shared his personal experience, saying that no one in his family asked him to join Bollywood or the theatre. It was his own passion that led him to pursue acting. He also told his children that in both cinema and sports, no one can build your career for you. If the good and honest person within you tells you that you can do something, then go ahead. However, if you fail, no one will be able to save you from the consequences. Also read: Ileana D’Cruz Reveals the Real Reason She Couldn’t Join Raid 2.
He mentioned that while a person’s family might give them an opportunity, success depends on their own abilities and the audience’s reaction. “If you are a player, your child might get a chance to play. Similarly, if someone has been working in the film industry for years, their child might learn filmmaking. But whether they will succeed or not is decided by their hard work, energy, and of course, the audience.” He said that this is not nepotism.
Rajpal also talked about his own long career, which has lasted for 38 years. He mentioned that despite having over 200 relatives, he has never been able to get them work in the industry. According to him, success comes through hard work, blessings, and, most importantly, the audience’s opinion.
Rajpal’s career took off with his role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Jungle in 2000, and he later became popular for his comic roles. He has worked in successful films like Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Bhagam Bhag.
