Varun Dhawan Honors Indian Army on Army Day
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who is currently preparing for his upcoming film Border 2, paid tribute to India’s “real heroes” on Army Day, Wednesday. Varun shared two pictures on Instagram, one of which shows him posing with soldiers next to a tank. He captioned the photos, “Honoring the real heroes of India this #ArmyDay. Proud to be with them. #Border2 #prep.”
Significance of Army Day
Army Day is celebrated every year on January 15 to honor the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa. He took charge from General Francis Roy Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on this day in 1949. The occasion is marked by parades and military displays in New Delhi and at army headquarters across India.
Varun Dhawan’s Upcoming Film – Border 2
On the work front, Varun Dhawan will next appear in Border 2, a sequel to the 1997 film Border, which was based on the Battle of Longewala during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The original film was directed by J.P. Dutta and starred Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and others. Border 2 also stars Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahaan Shetty, and is directed by Anurag Singh. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and is expected to continue the legacy of the first film with a grand cinematic experience.
Plot of Border 2 and Connection to Kargil War
It is believed that Border 2 will focus on the 1999 Kargil War, which began when Pakistani troops crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and occupied Indian territory, particularly in the Kargil district.
