Renowned singer Sonu Nigam recently used social media to express his disappointment over an incident at a concert in Rajasthan. During the “Rising Rajasthan” event, he made an emotional appeal to politicians, including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, calling out their behavior during the performance.
Following the event, Sonu Nigam shared a video on Instagram to address the issue. He voiced his disapproval of Rajasthan’s Chief Minister and other politicians for walking out of the concert halfway through, calling their actions disrespectful to both the artists and Maa Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and the arts.
In the video, Sonu explained, “During the concert, several politicians, including the CM, the sports minister, and the youth minister, were present. But midway through the show, I saw the CM and others stand up and leave. Soon after, other delegates followed. My humble request to politicians is this: If you can’t show respect to artists, then who will?”
In his caption, the singer added, “A sincere request to all respected politicians in India: please refrain from attending any performance if you plan to leave abruptly. It’s a sign of disrespect to the art, the artists, and to Maa Saraswati.”
Sonu Nigam’s video not only called out the actions of the Rajasthan Chief Minister but also sent a broader message to all politicians. He further emphasized in his appeal, “If you need to leave early, don’t attend the show, or make sure to leave before it begins.”
