The versatile actor-singer revealed the poster on social media with a bold caption: “I Challenge the Darkness.” In the image, Diljit appears sitting on the ground in a simple kurta and turban, with a bloodied and bruised face that reflects both pain and strength. This first look promises a gripping storyline.
Before sharing the poster, Diljit had teased his fans with a post saying, “Much awaited film is about to be released in Feb. So we had to postpone the album. Stay tuned folks.” Punjab 95 is a biographical film on Jaswant Singh Khalra, who disappeared in 1995, and the story focuses on his life and the fight for justice.
The film has been in the spotlight due to the CBFC’s demand for 85 to 120 cuts. One of the major issues was the suggestion to remove Khalra’s name from the film, which many found disrespectful to him and his family. The CBFC also reportedly asked the filmmakers, Honey Trehan and Ronnie Screwvala, to drop the title Punjab 95, which refers to the year Khalra went missing. His disappearance led to the conviction of six Punjab police officers for his murder a decade later.
These proposed changes have caused outrage among fans and critics, who see them as a threat to the film’s authenticity and cultural value. Fans are eagerly awaiting more updates on this film.
