Preity Zinta, who lives in Los Angeles, has expressed her heartbreak over the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires in the city.
While she confirmed that she is safe, the wildfires have claimed at least 16 lives, according to reports from the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office. The fires, which began on Tuesday just north of downtown Los Angeles, have destroyed over 12,000 structures, including homes, businesses, and vehicles.
Preity, who has twins Jai and Gia with her husband Gene Goodenough, shared a heartfelt message on X. She said she never imagined witnessing a day when wildfires would devastate neighborhoods in Los Angeles. “Friends and families have either evacuated or are on high alert, with ash falling from the sky like snow. There’s fear and uncertainty about what will happen if the winds don’t calm down, with toddlers and grandparents with us,” she wrote. “I’m heartbroken by the devastation around us, but thankful to God that we are safe for now.”
Preity Zinta also praised the fire department and firefighters for their hard work and efforts. “My thoughts and prayers are with the people who have been displaced and lost everything in these fires. I hope the wind dies down soon, and the fires are contained. Stay safe, everyone,” she added.
The exact cause of the wildfires has not been determined, and reports suggest that these could be the most expensive wildfires in the country’s history. Preity Zinta will next appear in Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming film Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan Productions.
