Allu Arjun and director Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule made an extraordinary debut worldwide, setting new records. In India alone, the film earned a staggering Rs 180 crore nett on its opening day, securing its position as the biggest opener of all time. Additionally, Pushpa 2 surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan to claim the title of the highest opening ever in Hindi. While the official numbers are still to be confirmed, early estimates suggest the film grossed around Rs 200 crore when overseas collections are included.
Released on December 5, 2024, Pushpa 2 was one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year. It had a massive global release, screening on over 10,000 screens.
According to Sacnilk, the tracking website, Pushpa 2 earned an impressive Rs 180 crore nett on its first day (including paid premiere shows on December 4) in India. Special premiere screenings in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bengaluru alone brought in Rs 10.1 crore nett. On Thursday, the sequel continued its strong performance, bringing in Rs 165 crore, with the Telugu version alone contributing Rs 85 crore nett. The Hindi version generated Rs 72 crore nett, surpassing the Rs 64 crore earned by Jawan, while the Tamil and Malayalam versions brought in Rs 7 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively.
Early projections suggest Pushpa 2 could potentially surpass the Rs 223 crore mark on its opening day, surpassing SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The official gross collection details will be released by the production house soon for further clarification.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles, with Anasuya Bharadwaj, Sunil, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh, and Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari in supporting roles. Actor Sreeleela also made a special cameo appearance in the film.
