Nikita Dutta, famous for movies like ‘Gold’, ‘Kabir Singh’, and the series ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’, will soon appear in a simple, no-makeup look in the upcoming streaming show ‘The Waking of a Nation’. In this show, she plays a brave freedom fighter from India’s independence struggle, wearing traditional clothes and dropping all glamour.
Talking about her role, Nikita Dutta said, “This show was different for me because I didn’t have to look perfect. No makeup, no manicures, no hair extensions—just a natural look since it’s set in the early 1900s.” She added, “I loved not worrying about my appearance. It gave me freedom as an actor. I could focus on acting without fearing I’d mess anything up on screen.”
She also said this character was her toughest yet. “The story is heavy, showing the time before and after Jallianwala Bagh. It’s all about our freedom fight. Preparing for it was hard but worth it. I learned so much about history that I didn’t know before. It opened my eyes, and I can’t wait for people to watch it.”
On the work side, Nikita will also star with Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat in ‘Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins’, which will release on Netflix soon.
