Kangana Ranaut Praises Himachali Women on Instagram
On Sunday, actor and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram to celebrate the women of Himachal Pradesh. She shared a picture featuring herself alongside Bollywood stars Preity Zinta, Yami Gautam, and Pratibha Ranta, and expressed how the women from her home state deserve more recognition.
Praise for Himachali Women
In her post, Kangana captioned the collage with “#peopleofhimachal” and highlighted the hardworking women of Himachal. She noted that these women, who are as beautiful as—or even more beautiful than—Bollywood stars, often go unnoticed as they are busy with their daily lives. She wrote:
“When I visit Himachal and see our women, who are equally or more beautiful than us, working tirelessly in the fields, raising cattle, and making ends meet, I feel they deserve more appreciation. They don’t have Instagram or Reels to show their lives, but they definitely need some hype. #himachaligenes #himachaliwomen.”
Kangana Supports Blake Lively Amid Allegations
Kangana also recently expressed her support for Hollywood actress Blake Lively, who has accused her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment. Drawing parallels between Hollywood and the Indian film industry, Kangana mentioned the Hema Committee report, which highlighted the struggles of women in the Malayalam film industry. She remarked,
“It’s not just Bollywood. Even in Hollywood, women who stand up are maligned, and their careers are ruined. A similar report, called the Hema Committee, came out about the Malayalam film industry. It’s worrying and shameful.”
For context, Blake Lively has filed a complaint against Justin Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempting to tarnish her reputation.
Recent Work and Upcoming Projects
Kangana’s recent projects include Tiku Weds Sheru, Chandramukhi 2, and Tejas in 2023. Her biographical film Emergency, based on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, faced a setback when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) initially denied it certification. However, after a legal battle, the film has now been cleared for release in 2025.
