Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited film Emergency, which has faced several delays, is now set to release on January 17, 2025. The film marks 50 years since the Emergency was declared in 1975. Originally scheduled for a September release, it was delayed due to issues with the censor board, which asked for cuts before giving a U/A certificate.
Ahead of the release, Kangana has revealed a powerful second trailer that has only increased excitement for the film. The trailer begins with veteran actor Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, writing a strong letter to the Prime Minister from his prison cell. The focus then shifts to Kangana as Indira Gandhi, boldly announcing the state of emergency in India. One of the most striking moments in the trailer is when Kangana’s character quotes the Mahabharata, saying, “This is Indraprastha, and we have declared war against the Kauravas.” The trailer ends with her powerful line, “India is Indira, and Indira is India,” leaving the audience impressed by her fierce performance and strong resemblance to the former Prime Minister.
Emergency features an impressive cast, with Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. With a focus on historical accuracy and attention to period details, the film aims to deliver a gripping portrayal of one of India’s most significant political events. read more…
