Aamir Khan, who is currently busy with his production ventures, is also involved in the Oscar campaign for Laapataa Ladies. At the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, he shared exciting details about his upcoming projects, including the delay of his much-anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par, which was originally scheduled for release in December 2024 but will now be debuting in mid-2025. Aamir revealed that the film will feature a fresh set of characters, a new plot, and an entirely new situation, though it will serve as a thematic sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. He mentioned that the film is currently in post-production, with additional pickups and editing planned for later this month.
Aamir also spoke about his production ventures. He’s working on Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starring Sunny Deol. He’s producing Ek Din, which stars his son Junaid Khan and actress Sai Pallavi, both of whom are newcomers to the industry. Additionally, Aamir is backing a third film in which he will star, as well as a fourth project written, directed, and acted by Vir Das. Aamir praised Vir as a “fantastic actor” with a “great mind,” describing the fourth film as a mad comedy in the style of Austin Powers.
Reflecting on the themes of Taare Zameen Par, Aamir emphasized how the film tackled the challenges faced by a dyslexic child and explored the concept of multiple intelligences. He pointed out that society tends to judge people based on their reading and writing abilities, often overlooking other forms of intelligence. He assured that Sitaare Zameen Par would continue this theme, celebrating the uniqueness and individuality of people.
