Mukul Dev Remembered After Sudden Demise
Popular actor Mukul Dev, known for his roles in films like Son of Sardaar, R… Rajkumar, Yamla Pagla Deewana, and Jai Ho, passed away at the age of 54. He died on Friday night in New Delhi. The news of his sudden demise spread by Saturday, and many of his friends and colleagues visited his home. His elder brother, actor Rahul Dev, and sister-in-law, actress Mugdha Godse, confirmed the news, saying, “Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night.” The exact reason for his death is still not known, and no official statement has been shared by the family yet.

Mukul Dev was born in New Delhi into a Punjabi family with roots near Jalandhar. His father, Hari Dev, was an Assistant Commissioner of Police and had a love for Afghan culture. He could speak Pashto and Persian, which influenced Mukul’s early thoughts and experiences.
Mukul first got into entertainment during his school days. When he was in 8th class, he performed a Michael Jackson dance at a Doordarshan show and received his first paycheck. Later, he trained to become a pilot at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, but eventually chose acting as his career.
He began his acting career in 1996 with the TV serial Mumkin, where he played the role of Vijay Pandey. He also appeared in Ek Se Badhkar Ek, a comedy-based Bollywood countdown show on Doordarshan, and hosted the first season of Fear Factor India. His film debut also happened in 1996 with Dastak, where he played ACP Rohit Malhotra opposite Sushmita Sen, who was also making her first film appearance.
Mukul’s last appearance was in the 2022 Hindi film Anth The End. He was loved for his versatile roles and warm personality, and his sudden death has left the film industry and fans deeply shocked and saddened.

Many celebrities shared their condolences and memories of Mukul. His friend Manoj Bajpayee, who worked with him in Dastak, wrote on social media, “Mukul was my brother in spirit. He had unmatched warmth and passion. Gone too soon, too young. I will miss you, meri jaan. Om Shanti.”
Sonu Sood also paid tribute by saying, “RIP Mukul bhai. You were a gem. Will always miss you. Stay strong Rahul Dev bhai.”

Ajay Devgn, his co-star from Son of Sardaar, said, “Still trying to process it. Mukul, it’s all too soon and sudden. You always made things lighter, even on tough days. Om Shanti.”
Actress Deepshikha Nagpal, a close friend, posted an old photo and video with Mukul on Instagram. She wrote, “I can’t believe you are gone, Muks. You were a beautiful soul and a wonderful friend. I will miss your voice notes. May your soul rest in peace. God give strength to the family.”
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh also wrote a heartfelt message, saying, “Really upset with the news of dear Mukul’s passing. He was a powerhouse performer and a lovely person. Deepest condolences to Rahul Dev, Mugdha Godse and the entire family. Om Shanti.”

Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal shared a picture of Mukul and wrote, “RIP Mukul Dev Ji. May his soul rest in peace.”
Vindu Dara Singh also shared memories and said, “Rest in peace my brother Mukul Dev. The time spent with you will always be cherished. Son Of Sardaar 2 will be your final gift, spreading joy and laughter.”
Fans and fellow actors across the country are mourning his loss. Mukul Dev will always be remembered for his talent, kindness, and the joy he brought to the screen.
